Knowing that the planned appearance change may take time does not mean that it is necessary to wait a long time for each symptom. After HIFU, the follow-up plan, evaluation of symptoms and travel organization should be compatible with each other. This article is not a personal evaluation, diagnosis, or guarantee of results; The decision on suitability is made by the relevant expert.

Maintenance, risks and reassessment

Knowing that the planned appearance change may take time does not mean that it is necessary to wait a long time for each symptom. Findings such as changes in facial movements or new asymmetry should be reported regardless of the control schedule. Instead of taking daily photos, recording at recommended intervals can provide a more understandable comparison. Ask what the first check will evaluate: safety, progression of sensitivity or change in appearance are different goals. The decision regarding the new session should not be made separately from the evaluation of the previous session.

If there is change, it may develop over time and not everyone responds the same. It is not appropriate to make a definitive decision based on the appearance of the first day. Inspection time and photographic conditions can be determined in advance. New facial asymmetry should not be monitored expecting changes in muscle movement, persistent numbness, blisters, or gradually increasing pain. The travel plan should leave room for communication with the clinic and face-to-face check-up if necessary. Promises of permanent or surgery-equivalent results with a single session do not create realistic expectations.

The areas marked in the session plan, areas that will not be applied and discomfort management are discussed. Higher energy or more passes does not automatically provide better results. If you experience severe, unexpected pain during procedure, report it immediately. Temporary tenderness, redness and swelling may occur; More serious problems such as burns, nerve damage, sensory changes or unwanted tissue loss are also among the risks that need to be evaluated.

Understanding the limits of the outcome

During the HIFU clinical consultation, not only age or the name of the device is taken into consideration. The tissue thickness of the face, fat distribution, degree of sagging and the targeted area are evaluated. In a thinner face, volume loss and laxity should be distinguished. The expectation of changing significant sagging to the same extent as surgery may be unrealistic. As a result of the suitability assessment, another option, a more limited plan, or no action may be recommended.

Previous injected fillers, thread procedures, facial surgery and energy-based procedures should be shared with their dates and locations. Conditions such as implants, active infections, open wounds or sensory changes are also evaluated. Ask for clarification on the model of the device used, the procedure apparatus features of the ultrasound device, and the targeted depth. Not every device or procedure apparatus of every ultrasound device is the same. It would not be correct to generalize the data of a particular brand to all ultrasound devices; Device selection and practitioner evaluation are important together.

The purpose of control is not only photography

During the post-HIFU check-up, sensitivity, sensation and facial movements may be discussed as well as appearance. If you feel a new difference on both sides of the face, explain which day it started and whether it has changed. The fact that there is no obvious difference in the photo does not negate the importance of the discomfort. Learn the findings that need to be reported in writing, without waiting for the control date. Changes felt outside the applied area should also be shared.

Do not rush to decide on additional sessions

The expected appearance change after HIFU may not occur immediately. However, the time to wait for a result is not the same as a safety assessment. If the result seems inadequate, first the goal and the appropriateness of the evaluation time are discussed. Whether a new session is necessary is determined by the effect of the previous procedure and personal anatomy. Just because it is included in the package does not mean that the additional session is suitable for everyone.

Maintain the possibility of re-evaluation in travel

If a face-to-face check is required before leaving Istanbul, ask how it will be organised. Do not delay evaluation by citing flight schedule if you notice new numbness, movement changes, blisters, or increased pain. Remote photography cannot cover every aspect of the examination. Learning which center you can contact when you return home and how to share transaction information makes follow-up more understandable.

Why is it important to distinguish between delayed change and symptom of a problem?

Knowing that the planned appearance change may take time does not mean that it is necessary to wait a long time for each symptom. Findings such as changes in facial movements or new asymmetry should be reported regardless of the control schedule.

Are the preparation and care recommendations the same for everyone?

No. Health history, current findings, method chosen, and previous procedures may change recommendations. Consult the appropriate healthcare professional before changing your own medications or prescription products. Follow the written plan given to you.

What should I do if I notice a problem after the trip?

Share information through the communication channel provided by the center in advance. Do not delay evaluation for symptoms such as increasing pain, significant swelling, signs of infection, or unexpected change in function. In case of emergency, contact your local health service.

HIFU

This page provides detailed, clear information about HIFU. Before a plan is agreed, your needs, medical history and suitability are assessed individually. HIFU is a device-based procedure that delivers focused ultrasound energy to selected tissue depths under the skin. The purpose and approved use of the device must be explained prior to operation.
